VW Delivery completes 20 years

Volkswagen Truck & Bus reached a milestone this year by celebrating two decades of the Delivery family. Launched in 2005, the line of light and medium-duty trucks has made its mark on the streets, with more than 220,000 vehicles produced and approximately 200,000 units registered in the country.

The states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais represent the main markets for Delivery trucks, reflecting the brand's strong presence in the Brazilian Southeast.

"For every two trucks sold in the medium-duty segment, one is from the Delivery family in Brazil. This shows the importance of the Delivery line in the truck market. In any segment, from businesses such as flower shops and butchers to the transportation of drinks, there is always a Delivery in operation”, says Roberto Cortes, president and CEO of Volkswagen Truck & Bus.

The Delivery family stands out in the urban distribution segment, offering a range of models. Among the diesel versions available are the Express, 6.170, 9.180, 11.180, 11.180 4x4 and 13.180 6x2. The electric versions, on the other hand, include the e-Delivery 11 and e-Delivery 14 models. All versions are designed to offer agility, economy and versatility in operations in large urban centers.

The success of the Delivery line goes beyond Brazil’s borders. Since its launch, about 20,000 units have been exported. Mexico, Argentina and Chile lead the ranking of destinations, cementing the strength of Volkswagen Truck & Bus on the international stage as well.

In this way, the Delivery family, as well as celebrating a 20-year milestone, also reaffirms its strategic role in the present and future of Brazilian and international transportation.

Billion-dollar investment that transformed urban transport

After the success of the first generation VW Delivery, which sold more than 100,000 units in 12 years, in 2017 VWTB introduced the second generation, which transformed cargo transportation in the light and medium-duty truck segments, adding up to approximately 100,000 license plates to date. Together, the two generations already exceed 200,000 units sold in Brazil.

"The launch of the second generation, composed of models from 3.5 to 13 tons, was the result of an investment of more than R$1 billion. The initiative marked the company's entry into the light-duty commercial segment, with Delivery Express, and presented a striking new design for the vehicles of the Delivery family”, says Ricardo Alouche, vice president of Sales, Marketing and After Sales.

VW Delivery trucks ensure more comfort for the driver

The new generation of the Delivery family was designed and developed to set a differentiated standard for meeting customer needs, combined with the values of Volkswagen Truck & Bus.

“We brought even more technology and practicality to the Delivery family, which has a multifunctional steering wheel and multi-regulation column, allowing precise adjustment and greater ergonomics for the driver, as well as pneumatic seats, covered with washable material, to raise the standard of comfort even further,” emphasizes Alouche.

The Prime package includes electrically operated mirrors, locks and windows, air conditioning, a cell phone holder integrated into the dashboard, USB and USB-C ports, as well as a bumper in the color of the vehicle, ensuring design harmony.

The Highline package (optional) provides a more connected driving experience. In addition to including all the features of Prime, it offers technological differentials for the line: seven-inch multimedia center and ten-inch 100% digital instrument panel.

The updates of the Delivery family were designed to maximize the practicality, comfort and, above all, the profitability of drivers and transport operators. These technologies not only improve the driving experience but also bring solutions that increase driver productivity and well-being, contributing to more efficient operations.

New generation of e-Delivery

Launched in 2024, another highlight of the Delivery family is the e-Delivery 11, reaffirming Volkswagen Truck & Bus' commitment to the constant development of electric mobility to offer even more availability, efficiency and performance.

The vehicle is equipped with a new 280 kW electric motor, providing a 7% increase in torque, with 2,300 Nm available from start-up. This enhanced performance ensures greater strength and responsiveness, optimizing transportation operations in various sectors.

With a PBT of 11,400 kg, another novelty is its PBTC and CMT of 15,000 kg, with a towing capacity of 3,600 kg, the largest in the category. This configuration, combined with the weight reduction in the e-Delivery's components, brings the payload capacity to 6,300 kg in the version with the longest range, a 16% increase on the first generation launched in 2021, guaranteeing greater productivity and profitability for operators.

Another important aspect of the vehicle is the factory-installed e-PTO (Power Take-Off), which is more cost-effective for the customer. The e-PTO is designed for a wide range of applications, with a power capacity of up to 30 kW, ranging from traditional applications such as general cargo chests to special applications such as maintenance of high-voltage electrical networks.

The Highline package is also available for the new e-Delivery: 100% digital dashboard and multimedia center, providing a more connected driving experience, with a wide range of information for the operator, ranging from battery recharging to information on consumption and regeneration of energy for the batteries.
