Factories

Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus has two factories and a revolutionary production concept, decisive factors for its success. The main production unit is in Resende, in the interior of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. The other is in the Mexican city of Querétaro.

Resende

Located 150 kilometers from the city of Rio de Janeiro, the Resende plant entered the history of the global automobile industry by introducing a modern management concept, unprecedented in the relationship between the manufacturer and its main suppliers: the Modular Consortium. In this production system, suppliers share the responsibility for assembling the vehicles with the company.

The main advantages are increased productivity and reduced costs. The partner companies are Maxion (chassis and wheels), Meritor (axles), Suspensys (air suspensions), Carese (paint), Aethra (cabin frame), Powertrain (engine) and Kroschu (cabin finish).

Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus takes care of all the certification within the quality standards of the brand, in addition to the previous development work and also the steps subsequent to production, with sales, post-sales and service assistance.

e-Consortium: a new chapter in the automotive industry

VWCO also demonstrates its pioneering spirit in making electric mobility feasible, with the creation of the unprecedented e-Consortium. It is the first time in the world that a brand provides for everything from assembly to recharging infrastructure and battery life cycle management of these trucks, leveraging the commitment of the entire supply chain in such an integrated way.
