Volkswagen Truck & Bus delivers legacy-building solutions at COP30

As of today, October 30, 18 Volkswagen trucks are currently on their way to Belém do Pará. These vehicles will be used to transport 1.5 million units of Mamba Water, the first water with 100% recyclable packaging used to supply an edition of COP. Volkswagen Truck & Bus joins forces with Heineken, which also announced the donation of 20 million liters of drinking water for riverside communities in the Amazon.

The initiative is aligned with Volkswagen Truck & Bus commitment to promoting initiatives that generate a positive impact and build a lasting legacy for society.

Mamba Water is part of the Heineken Spin initiative and will be donated for consumption during COP30, the main global conference where world leaders will be discussing solutions to address global warming and enter commitments to address current and future climate-related challenges. COP30 will be held between November 10 and 21 in the state capital of Pará. Cans will be consumed in the event’s Blue Zone, a space in which global negotiations, ministry meetings and conferences with world leaders will be concentrated.

“The commitment to sustainability is part of VWTB’s purpose. By partnering with Mamba Water, a brand that has already announced the donation of 20 million liters of drinking water to traditional riverbank communities such as Piriquitaquara and Taiassuí, which are located on Combu Island and Benevides, respectively, we are reinforcing our role in initiatives that promote sustainability and social responsibility", affirms Roberto Cortes, president and CEO of Volkswagen Truck and Bus.

“Mamba Water was developed to transform access to water into social impact, and it is an honor to bring this key agenda to the most important climate change-related event in the world. VWTB’s presence at this forum reinforces our dedication to providing collaborative solutions that bring the private sector, government and civil society together”, adds Mauro Homem, Vice President of Sustainability Corporate & Affairs at the Heineken Group.

Volkswagen Truck & Bus is an industry reference in the development of sustainable transport solutions that are accessible to all and has consistently invested in research into the area. These initiatives reinforce commitments made under the company's Future Program, which promotes initiatives that will leave an increasingly sustainable legacy for future generations.

Other VWTB initiatives

Volkswagen Truck & Bus remains committed to supporting the development of the Amazon region. An example is the Mais Caminhos (‘Roads to Education’) Program, which offers young people in Belém English classes and mentoring to increase their chances of entering the labor market both during COP30 and through their future careers.

The assembler is also a sponsor of the Museum of Amazonian Sciences (MuCA), an initiative focused on research, innovation and scientific education in Belterra (PA) located in the heart of Tapajós National Forest. This partnership reinforces VWTB’s role as an active agent in sustainable development by recognizing the Amazon’s cultural and scientific value and strengthening local communities.

“We have also participated in discussions with institutions that are committed to developing adequate infrastructure for electric trucks, which are referred to as green corridors. We are pioneers in electromobility in cargo transport in Brazil and have a long-standing historical involvement in sustainability initiatives. During one of the most recent initiatives, VWTB conducted tests using B100 biodiesel in partnership with its customers, which helped reaffirm our commitment to developing cleaner and more viable energy alternatives for transportation”, concludes Cortes.
