- New Constellation is the brand's largest highway model
- Global unveiling takes place at Expotransporte in Mexico, the first country to receive it
- The Constellation 26.480 6x4 arrives exclusively to meet the demand of the brand's international markets
With a gross combined weight of 74 tons, the Constellation 26.480 is the first of the Constellation family designed for highway applications with 6x4 traction and a 13-liter engine. For Mexico, the model represents Volkswagen Truck & Bus's definitive entry into the local extra-heavy segment market.
"The company has a robust internationalization strategy, which involves developing tailor-made products for each region. This new Constellation will allow us to decisively expand our market share, winning customers in a segment where we had not yet operated with the Volkswagen brand", says Rafael Magalhães, VWTB director in Mexico.
Expansion to other countries will be gradual, according to demand from customers already operating with Euro 6 technology. In addition to the brand's most modern emissions standard, this Constellation comes fully equipped as standard, with VWTB's complete comfort and safety package.
Among the highlights are air suspension and the retarder brake, which combined with the engine brake, deliver both efficiency and comfort. The model is also available with metallic suspension upon request and offers three wheelbase options (3,200 mm, 3,400 mm, or 3,600 mm) to cover the widest range of applications in the heavy-duty market.
Tailored launches for Mexico
The entire new VWTB truck lineup comes standard with active safety features, including technologies for precise hill starts, improved cornering stability, maximum ground traction and advanced braking controls. And the innovations don’t stop there.
Side by side with the new Constellation 26.480 will be its younger sibling, the 20.480 4x2, the VWTB's entry-level model in the extra-heavy segment and also equipped with a 13-liter engine, along with the entire Euro 6 portfolio of the brand. The light trucks of the Delivery family arrive with automated transmission, in addition to the renewed Delivery 6.170.
For the medium-heavy rigid segment, the focus is the Constellation 26.320 and the introduction of the high-roof sleeper cab. Meanwhile, the Highline package, featuring VWTB’s highest comfort standards, is set to impress Mexican customers with a new level of onboard experience.
In electromobility, the second generation of the e-Delivery hits the Mexican market, now also available with six battery packs and a range of 250 km. For passenger transport, VWTB unveils the Volksbus 15.210, the new generation of the so-called Huracán, an exclusive VWTB solution for the bus segment in Mexico.
To further accelerate business, VWTB adds to its offering in the country the portfolio of solutions from TRATON Financial Services, which was launched in Mexico in March this year, to support its customers with tailored financial services.
